Christian metal pioneers Stryper are planning to cross the Pond in the new year after their latest album landed inside the top 75 on the Billboard charts back home.
In an exclusive chat with rushonrock, frontman Michael Sweet confirmed the Stateside success of Murder By Pride – released in the UK on Frontiers Records at the end of the month – revealed a January 2010 trip is in the pipeline.
And he added: “It looks like fans are finally getting what we’re all about. But we’re always up against it being a band from the 80s and a Christian band!”
Muder By Pride was several years in the making and its release was delayed by the death of Sweet’s wife following a two-year battle against cancer. But he added: “People are saying it’s the best record we’ve ever released and they might be right.
“We’re planning to play around 14 dates in Europe in January and the intention is to visit the UK as part of that tour. I love Britain and it’s about time Stryper played to the people over there again soon.”
