It’s happened before (sort of) but that hardly softens the blow on the day we’re very sorry to report that blues rock giants Thunder are calling time on their prolific career.
Those who witnessed the band on the Bang! tour before Christmas can testify that the four piece has rarely sounded so good. And with new EPs and albums coming thick and fast it seemed like Thunder could last forever.
The reality is that all of the guys are busier than ever pursuing projects outside of the band and this summer will seem them call time on a cracking 20-year career. A seven-date farewell tour takes place in July and a band statement read: ”We’ve played loads of fantastic shows over the last 20 years, but we want all the shows between now and when we go to be the best we’ve ever done. We really hope you’ll want to be there to help us to do that. And thanks for everything.”
Thunder’s loyal North East fan base has been rewarded with a show on Tuesday July 7 and needless to say tickets for this final ever Newcastle City Hall show will be like gold dust when the time comes. Expect rushonrock to go Thunder crazy this summer as we celebrate one of our all-time fave bands – and at the same time wipe a large tear from our eye. Seats go on sale from Friday January 30.
