The Bloody Nerve

The Bloody Nerve backstory

The Nashville-based rock duo was born in 2013 when Stacey Blood and Laurie Ann Layne opted to pool their talents and take on the world.

Texan Blood headed to Nashville in 2009 where he hooked up with New Yorker Layne and the couple moved in together in 2011.

Two years later The Bloody Nerve took shape and in 2014 their single Find Ya Love was featured on French TV series Interventions before finding a permanent home on the band’s 2015 debut Taste.

New project All Blood, No Treasure is an ongoing concept album released episodically.

What’s It Say? (About You) is the second episode with further instalments to follow throughout 2021.

In Stacey Blood’s own words:

What’s It Say? makes me feel like how dysfunctional our whole situation gets when we try and administrate and fix all of the damn things.

“There’s a certain type of person who just can’t mind their own business and it ends up like Hell for everyone else.”

The verdict on What’s It Say? (About You)

Think you know Nashville? Think again.

The Bloody Nerve’s driving hard rock owes more to Detroit City than Music Row but it works a treat.

And on What’s It Say? (About You) the fusion of biting melody and thought-provoking lyrics packs a punk-fuelled punch.

There’s more than a hint of Oasis underpinning an earworm of a riff.

But don’t let that put you off.

This is fresh, feral and full of intrigue, introspection and incision.

As the second ‘episode’ in the All Blood, No Treasure series it has the desired effect: leaving fans hanging by their laptop for news on single number three…

What’s next for The Bloody Nerve?

In true Netflix style, The Bloody Nerve is promising plot twists and cliffhangers as All Blood, No Treasure continues to take shape.

With the first two ‘episodes’ live now, Blood and Layne have readied the rest of their story ahead of live shows later this year.
