Orianthi Backstory

Aussie Orianthi burst onto the scene as a 24-year-old after backing Carrie Underwood at the 2009 Grammys.

Due to flank Michael Jackson at his ill-fated run of O2 Arena dates in London, the supremely talented six stringer starred on the posthumous This Is It documentary.

She’s enjoyed stints with Carlos Santana, Steve Vai and – most famously – Alice Cooper but this is Orianthi’s first new music for seven years.

Her many accolades include being named one of the Greatest Female Electric Guitarists by Elle magazine, Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year by Guitar International and one of Gibson Guitars’ Top 10 Female Guitar Players of All Time.

In Orianthi’s own words

Impulsive is a fun track. I wrote it pretty fast with my friend and producer Marti Frederiksen.

The video was a blast to make at the Dollhouse in Los Angeles with the great director Jim Louvau.

I wanted to keep things pretty raw on the new album.

And I didn’t overthink things.

I wanted to create a unique sound and vibe with every track and we experimented a lot with synths and different guitar tones.”

The verdict on Impulsive

When it comes to crafting her own music, Orianthi has always favoured quality over quantity and this banger is no different.

There’s no doubting her technical prowess but Impulsive reveals some of the personality behind one of the most talked about guitarists on the planet.

What’s next for Orianthi

The platinum-selling recording artist announced a November 6 release for her new album, O, via Frontiers Music.

It’s her first album in seven years.
