It’s that time of the year when we recognise the best of the best in rock and metal.
And as we count down towards our 2012 Albums Of The Year here’s a reminder of the visual treats on offer over the last 12 months.
And if you vehemently disagree then feel free to get in touch and let us know what missed the cut…
2012 DVDs OF THE YEAR
1 Michael Schenker – Temple Of Rock: Live In Europe
The noughties were not kind on former Scorpions and UFO favourite Michael Schenker. A series of below-par performances, infamous scrapes and lackluster releases poured scorn on a career that deserved respect and recognition.
But 2011 marked a turnaround in the German guitar hero’s fortunes and 2012 maintained the momentum. Back to his brilliant best and looking much more like the man responsible for many of rock’s most identifiable riffs, Schenker was on fire.
The Temple Of Rock DVD is a record of that reincarnation, capturing magical sets from Tilburg and the High Voltage Festival in all of their fret-burning glory. A stunning package featuring a genuine star.
2. Steel Panther – British Invasion
3. Saxon – Heavy Metal Thunder: The Movie
4. BB King – The Life Of Riley
5. Stone Temple Pilots – Alive In The Windy City
Michael Schenker – Temple of Rock: Live in Europe is released on CD, DVD, Blu-ray and Ltd Deluxe Edition by inakustik. Schenker’s Temple of Rock UK tour starts April 9 2013. Book online: www.thegigigcartel.com, Ticket Hotline: 0844 478 0898. Further info: www.michaelschenkerhimself.com.
