Anthrax ever-present Scott Ian insists nothing could improve on the band’s current line-up, creativity and vibe as the thrash metal heroes gear up for a stint supporting Motorhead across the UK.

The guitar hero caught up with RUSHONROCK tonight as the latest axe-wielding legend to join our Riff Lords roster – adding his considerable expertise to a line-up including Slash, Steve Vai and Herman Li.

Riff Lords will be rolled out later this month but in the meantime Ian reiterated his view that the current Anthrax line-up will last – and be the last.

“If this band auditioned for me right here, right now I’d take one look at those guys and say ‘yes, that’s the band for me’,” said the founder member.

“I’d say now go and do your stuff! If I stepped outside myself and looked at this line-up I’d say this Anthrax is the Anthrax.

“As a result I just can’t imagine doing this with any other group of guys. It just wouldn’t make any sense.

“We’ve proved to ourselves what this band is capable of creativity-wise, album-wise and touring-wise. Why would we want to change anything?”

Ian and Anthrax – with singer Joey Belladonna back behind the mic – head out with Motorhead from November 5. Look out for a full interview with Scott Ian here soon and remember to watch out for our exclusive Riff Lords series!
