rushonrock approved throwback rockers The Treatment are primed for a breakthrough year in 2012 after bagging two of the biggest supports of the year.

The retro quintet will open up for the mighty Steel Panther across Europe – including four sell-out UK shows.

And The Treatment have been hand picked by Thin Lizzy to play on the summer leg of the classic rock megastars’ UK headline tour.

Determined to maintain their momentum the band has also laid down five covers for an EP set for release on April 21 – Record Store Day. And a follow-up to debut long player This Might Hurt is already in the pipeline!

The UK shows with the Panther are as follows, with The Treatment acting as sole support:

March 27th – Birmingham, o2 Academy
March 28th – Glasgow, o2 Academy
March 30th – Manchester, o2 Academy
March 31st – London, Brixton Academy

Following this tour, mostly sold out already, The Treatment will be taking to the road with Lizzy and the dates are:

May 15th – Coventry, Kasbah

May 16th – Guildford, G Live

May 18th – Liverpool, o2 Academy

May 19th – Edinburgh, HMV Picture House

May 20th – Middlesbrough, The Empire

May 22nd – Nottingham, Rock City

May 23rd – Norwich, UEA

May 24th – Bournemouth, o2 Academy

Production of the new EP has been overseen by Laurie Mansworth at Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris’ Barnyard Studios, with Tony Newton taking care of the mix.

The track-listing for the EP – a selection of 70s covers – is as follows:

Run Run Run – Jo Jo Gunne
Take Me Bake ’Ome – Slade
Evil Woman – Electric Light Orchestra
Motorbikin’ – Chris Spedding
Let’s Work Together – Canned Heat
