Sweet Taste warmed up the cold and hungover Village Of The Damned crowd with ease, soothing the masses with their rock n’ soul—tinged bluesy rock.
Then it was over to Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound who, fresh from a stint with the Quireboys the previous night, tore up the Youngblood stage. Blues-based with a heavier sound rooted in early Whitesnake, their sleazier moments were an early highlight.
Runners-up at the Highway To Hell show, The Amourettes brought a coquettish charm to Stage Three – pleasing both sexes for very different reasons! Meanwhile Velvet Star shook the Queen Vic to its foundations with a fantastically energetic set.
Friday had been a roaring success even before Million $ Reload rocked Stage Two. But Voodoo Six managed to raise the bar higher still with their brutal riffs and intoxicating ‘in-your-face’ presence.
