It with great sadness that we are reflecting on the death of Killing For Company drummer Staurt Cable, pictured far right, this morning.
rushonrock has been counting down to the former Stereophonics’ man’s return with new band Killing For Company for months with their debut album due this summer.
And now it pains us to say that Cable’s best is yet to come. rushonrock editor Simon Rushworth spent time with the amiable Welshman during 2009 as KFC put the finishing touches to their DR2 Records release in Newcastle. “What I heard then proved that Cable had found the perfect band,” said Simon, who was asked to pen the band’s bio to coincide with the CD release. “I was so excited about the new record and was looking forward to reviewing the band at Download this weekend. It’s devastating news about Stuart – I only met him twice but he was a lovely bloke.”
Emergency services attended Mr Cable’s house at Llwydcoed near Aberdare, Cynon Valley, at 530am this morning. South Wales Police said the cause of death had not been established but there were no suspicious circumstances at this stage.
Global Music, who own the Dr2 imprint, released the following statement this afternoon:
“We at Global Music are shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Stuart Cable. It’s been a pleasure working with Stuart and his band, Killing For Company, we all mourn the loss of a lovely gentleman and fantastic musician.
“Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and fellow band-mates during this sad time…”
