Today’s the day when rock and metal fans from around the world descend on a little place in Derbyshire for the best festival on the planet. And if you’re there bright and early then why not kick off the Download 2009 experience with one of rushonrock‘s picks of the year in the shape of good lookin’, hard rockin’ US rabble rousers Steadlur?
Opening up on the second stage from 1pm, the band responsible for a blistering self-titled debut album are determined to get the crowd in the mood for mini headliners Motley Crue. And bass dude Daniel Steadlur admitted: “This whole experience is just unbelievable.
“When we were starting to think about playing in bands we used to watch clips of the Crue and we’ve all seen Download on YouTube. Now here we are and it’s very, very exciting. You could say I’m cautiously optimistic!
“It’s just epic for a band like us. We did Rock Am Ring in Germany last weekend which was cool and now we’re at the biggest gig there is. The line-up over all three days is totally awesome and once we’re done with our set we can’t wait to check out the likes of the Crue, Backyard Babies and Duff McKagan.
“I still don’t know how the Crue are playing the second stage – they rule! But it means we can say we shared a stage with one of our all-time heroes.”
