North East rock heroes Fables Last Stand take their game to the next level tonight with a special showcase set in front of 3,000-plus fans at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena.
Roachie, Twiggy and the boys are celebrating cutting the remaining tracks for their forthcoming debut album with a full set prior to Newcastle Eagles’ British Basketball League clash against London Capital.
And the show will double up as a celebration of the Eagles’ second successive league title – the franchise’s 10th trophy in four years under celebrated player-coach Fabulous Flournoy.
“What the Eagles have done for the North East is incredible and they’re an inspiration to people all overt the region,” said Fables’ singer Roachie. “We’re very excited about playing this set and we’d like to thank Newcastle’s MD Paul Blake for inviting us down for the night.”
Fables are in talks with several record labels with a view to releasing their debut album before the end of the year after completing the recording process at Newcastle’s Blast! Studios – owned by Jarrow-based rock specialists Global Music. With half the tracks laid down at Bryan Adams’ Vancouver studio and the remainder mixed on Tyneside, Roachie added: “There’s a real Transatlantic feel to the music. We’re really pleased with it.”
Tonight’s BBL clash tips off at 7.30pm with Fables due on stage at 6.45pm. There will be an opportunity for fans to catch up with the five-piece during the game.
