floggingIt’s 12 years since LA’s hard rocking version of The Pogues first hit the headlines and in 2009 Flogging Molly show no signs of slowing down.

Festival favourites across the world and well known for their foot-tapping anthems fusing Celtic roots with rock and roll, they’re not necessarily known for a visual cutting edge.

But all of that’s about to change following the release of the new animated video for next month’s single Float – the title track from last year’s impressive album. UK production duo Kari and Saul have come up with a classic take on an evocative tune. And FM founder member Dave King is delighted with the zany results.

“When we first started considering a video for Float all the ideas with the band in it seemed very generic,” he said.  “We had concepts with the band on a boat, then going to a bar. They seemed ridiculous.

“Then we decided to do something that we’ve never done before.  This idea came about. We went along with it. It’s a piece of art in itself, you know. I mean, you could put it on before a movie in a theater, and it would go down really well I think.”

Float will be available from April 13 and don’t miss the Mollies at a festival near you this summer.
