With less than a month to go until Extreme rock out Newcastle’s City Hall, guitar hero Nuno Bettencourt has promised rushonrock readers that the band is back for good.

In an exclusive chat with the North East’s number one rock website, the Portuguese axe maestro has quashed rumours that the US superstars’ return will be short lived.

When asked if Extreme are back for the long haul the former Satellite Party guitarist said: “Absolutely. I think I gave it my best shot during a 13-year break from the band in terms of getting a lot of things out of my system with different bands. It will be good to have a little bit of stability back in my professional life.”

Nuno also admitted the band were making up for lost time – and looking to reconnect with lost fans – after deciding to return to the world’s biggest rock stages.

“I don’t know if there’s a right or wrong answer to whether we should have walked away from Extreme in the first place,” he added. “I’m sure being away for so long doesn’t help our relationship with fans and we’ve got a lot of work to do there.

“It’s the same as if you’re dealing with an individual in a friendship that’s lost its way for so long. They lose faith in you and it takes a lot of time to persuade that person that it’s worth coming back.”
