Sebastian Bach

Sebastian Bach backstory

The outspoken, flamboyant and charismatic performer has been a mainstay of music, film, television and theatre since the mid 80s.

As the voice behind Skid Row anthems 18 and Life, Youth Gone Wild, I Remember You and more, the Canadian-raised singer was a staple of MTV’s hair metal heyday.

But after leaving the New Jersey band — and following a brief stint with Triumph and The Last Hard Men — he turned to musical theatre.

Bach gained fresh notoriety as ‘the first heavy metal singer on Broadway’ when he starred in Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical.

And he went on to feature in versions of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Jesus Christ Superstar.

But hard rock has always been the rocket-lunged frontman’s true love and 2007’s solo album Angel Down marked a return to classic Bach.

Buddy Axl Rose featured on three of the record’s 14 tracks and four years later Bach was back — with Kicking & Screaming.

In 2014 Give Em Hell marked the release of a fourth solo album but it’s been a decade since any solo music has seen the light of day.

And the release of new record Child Within The Man — trailed by Everybody Bleeds — coincides with a coast-to-coast tour of the US.

In his own words

“I have been putting out records since the year 1989.

“Thank you for 35 years of Bach N’ Roll…all leading up to Child Within The Man!

“If you like the records I have put out in the past, I can guarantee that you will enjoy the new album.

“This is the kind of Rock N’ Roll that keeps you young!

“I can’t wait for you all to crank up Child Within The Man  — a magical elixir to the fountain of Youth! Gone Wild! Forever!

“It’s all one big song! Turn it up!”

The verdict on Everybody Bleeds

When Sebastian Bach says fans of his previous work are guaranteed to enjoy his new material, a bold claim should come with a necessary caveat.

It’s a long time since the multi-talented singer ditched his chart-friendly, hard rock roots for a steelier, more metallic sound.

And Everybody Bleeds is much more akin to the cut and thrust of Subhuman Race or solo record Angel Down than Skid Row’s early work.

Nevertheless, it’s a fast-paced, lyrically astute and engaging tune that allows Bach to jump headlong into a booming return to form.

A truly impressive and addictively immersive lyric video brings a crushing slab of hard rock bombast to life.

And Bach has rarely sounded better as he rails against climate disaster, media misinformation and more.
