Undeath backstory

Undeath’s 2019 demo burst like a pus-filled buboe across the underground.

And it was no surprise that US label Prosthetic Records snapped the Rochester, NY act for their debut album, Lesions of a Different Kind.

With tracks like Acidic Twilight Visions and Entranced By The Pendulum, the band gave us a lesson in old school death metal savagery, and gained the worldwide acclaim their sonic assault deserved.

And now they’re back, with a bloody taste of their forthcoming second album, It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave.

In Undeath’s own words

Rise from the Grave is Undeath refined to its deadliest aspects,” says guitarist Kyle Beam. “Blood curdling vocals, bonesaw guitars, slamming bass, and skull crushing drums, fused with a focused hook that brings the decayed mass together as a banging death metal track.

“We hope you all enjoy, bang your head and scream along.”

The verdict on Rise from the Grave

In 2020, Undeath bagged our death metal album of the year with Lesions of a Different Kind.

And if this new track is anything to go by, their sophomore album will be up there again with the finest DM releases of 2022.

The new track – a particularly vile stew of Carcass and Cannibal Corpse – congeals around Undeath’s trademark tones, and bears the kind of riff that would make Bill Steer proud.

It also feels more technically accomplished than Lesions’ material, while still carrying the glorious, OSDM vibe that made that album so compelling.

Undeath’s rise continues…
