It’s no surprise given the quality and authenticity at the root of his third album in three years. None of the 11 songs here ever threatens to undermine a respected and enduring legacy.
Wade In The Water, evoking Walker’s love of gospel, is an impossibly upbeat composition that is both deeply affecting and powerfully simplistic. Do I Love Her is typically cheeky and set closer 35 Years comfortably juxtaposes the past, the present and the future.
Walker’s inherent ability to fuse instinctive talent with core professionalism makes for another compelling addition to a peerless canon. It’s never too late to discover another Blues brother.
