quireboys us tour poster final 600pxAll month Quireboys‘ guitarist Paul Guerin is bringing us bang up to date with the band’s first North American tour in 20 years.

Ahead of a flight to Denver, the Blyth-born star reveals how a fellow Geordie saved the day with an acoustic et just hours away.

Look out for more from inside the Quireboys’ camp later this week.

You would think that getting hold of a couple of acoustic guitars in Hollywood would be a walk in the park. Well think again!

We hit one brick wall after another until my old pal from the North East, Danny Murphy, came to the rescue and provided us with a pair of absolute beauties.

We were out in Huntington Beach, Orange County, so we got to the Whisky about 8.30pm – so no sound check, no messing around. Just a quick line check, a quick one-two and we were off.

This was a very different show to our first set at the Whisky. It was just myself, Griff and Spike, two acoustics, three stools and three mics.

We played quite a few songs that we don’t normally play in the electric set which really pleased the die-hards and it was great to be able to play the Whisky twice in our first week in America.

Then, of course, in true Sunset tradition we scooted up the road to finish the night off at the Rainbow. The banter was mighty and I must admit I haven’t laughed so much in years. Another great night!

We fly to Denver on Wednsday morning so I’ll be back with my next blog then.

Until then tooodaloooo folks!
