THE READING LIST – ALBERTA CROSS

It’s festival time again as Reading (and Leeds) 2012 kicks off to bring the curtain down on a soggy summer of live music.

All this week we’ve been focusing on the must-see bands starring in Berkshire and Bramham.

And while they might not be the biggest name (yet) you’d be mad to miss the multi-national creative that is Alberta Cross.

Mixing folk, blues and alt rock they could well be the surprise hit of the summer – and a brand new album is imminent!

Band: Alberta Cross

Where: Festival Republic Stage

When: Sunday August 26 (Leeds August 24)

Who: New York-based Anglo-Swede combo dealing in definitive alt rock with a bluesy edge.

Why: If they’re good enough for high profile fans Oasis, Them Crooked Vultures and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club they’re worthy of a listen.

What: The pick of breakthrough album Broken Side Of Time and new material from upcoming Songs Of Patience.

Watch out for: The best band you’ve never heard.

Wait for: Rise From The Shadows.
