And who better to wrap things up than returning Geordie mob the Quireboys with the band pivotal to a tremendous ‘back to the early 90s’ second stage bill.
With a high profile support slot opening up for old touring buddies Guns N Roses in Switzerland later this month and a new album due for autumn there’s no stopping Spike and his pals right now.
And for anyone who can remember the Quireboys’ raucous 1990 Monsters Of Rock set prepare for a long overdue repeat.

Why Watch Quireboys: The current line-up has been together more than a decade and they’re as tight as Spike’s bandana. Made to play live they’re back at Donington for the first time in more than 20 years – when they supported Aerosmith and Whitesnake at the Monsters Of Rock.
Why Miss Quireboys: If you have never larned yersel Geordie then Spike’s mid-song banter might go over your head. And don’t expect shredding from blues rock buddies and twin guitar powerhouse Paul Guerin and Guy Griffin. They’re too cool for [rock] school.
Must hear: Party anthem 7 O’ Clock, from the band’s 1990 UK number two album A Bit Of What You Fancy, is a classic Quireboys cut. It might get aired in the middle of the afternoon but you’ll still be dancing like a loon.
Overrated: Sex Party, another track culled from ABOWYF, isn’t really suitable for a family audience and lacks the class normally associated with Spike and his buddies.
