slashSlash’s new solo record will blow fans away according to one of the musicians who knows him best – and an individual who has heard at least three of the songs set to feature on the guitar hero’s much anticipated album.

Fellow former Gunner and Velvet Revolver band mate Duff McKagan laid down a track with Stoke’s finest earlier this week – completing a rhythm section which featured Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl. And that meaty collaboration is just the tip of an incredibly creative iceberg according to one of the people closest to Slash’s star-studded side project.  “I’ve heard two of the tracks and played on a third,” McKagan told rushonrock. “It’s going to be a real Slash record and it’s really fucking good! I’m happy for Slash because I’ve known he’s wanted to do this record since 1994.

“I’m only assuming this part but I think that he’s had this album in his head somewhere for the best part of 15 years. Now it’s coming out. And it’s going to be something special.

“For me playing with Dave Grohl was a joy. We’re friends but we’d never played as a rhythm section before. It was electric but that’s what you get when you put three guys in one room who’ve never played together beofre.”

Slash is slated to showcase some of his new work during tomorrow night’s Slash And Friends concert, celebrating 20 years of the Mirage hotel and casino in Las Vegas. McKagan added: “He’s asked me to show up but I’m rehearsing with Loaded right now – plus I’m a bit under the weather and not in a great state for flying. We’ll see.”

Loaded go out on the road with The Parlor Mob and Black Stone Cherry in the UK later this month. Look out for full coverage on the UK’s fastest-growing independent rock and metal site!
