Virtuoso rock guitarist Steve Vai chewed the fat with rushonrock tonight – and inadvertently turned guest reviewer as he waxed lyrical about big buddy Devin Townsend’s new album.
Townsend releases Addicted in November but slipped an advance copy to Vai at a charity screening of the latter’s Where The Wild Things Are DVD last night. And it seems both men are still reaching their creative peak after compiling respective bodies of rock work revered the world over.
“I’m the first person who’s heard Addicted,” said Vai. “And it’s an incredible record.”
Vai recruited Townsend to sing vocals on his classic 1993 record Sex & Religion and the two have been regular collaborators ever since. Addicted is the second in a qaurtet of albums based around a single concept and follows this summer’s launch record Ki.
“Devin is making some amazing music right now and I really appreciate his work,” added Vai. “I’m listening to his music quite a bit and it’s great that I’ve got hold of the new CD!”
Look out for loads more Vai in the next few weeks as we count down to the release of his new Where The Wild Things Are DVD/CD package on October 5!
