Whitley Bay appears to be making a bid to bounce back as one of the rock jewels in the North East crown with the establishment of the Trojan Rooms at the town’s Avalon Hotel.
And it’s clear the team behind the state-of-the-art mini venue know their music because they’ve gone and booked everyone’s April fools Dirty Rock & Roll next month.
rushonrock bumped into lead singer Adam at Metallica’s Newcastle gig last month and the big man who used to grace the Metro Radio Arena as a pro basketball star is confident of a cracking year for the thunderous three piece in 2009.
“We’ve been recording some new stuff at the Noize Rehearsal Rooms in Gateshead and we all enjoy working there,” explained the former Baby Rattlesnake. “Things are sounding good right now and we can’t wait to get out there and play some tunes to our fans. We’ve got a new website at www.dirtyrockandroll.com which is doing great and I think we’re part of a really healthy rock scene in the region right now.”
DRnR play the Trojan Rooms on April 9 and Mark Pearce, of Noize Rehearsal Rooms, told rushonrock: “The lads are awesome and I love what they do. But I’m always looking for more local talent interested in using the facilities here. I don’t think too many people know we’re in Gateshead right now but I’m hoping that will change very soon.”
