Jam Session On Tyneside?

Word reaches rushonrock that Metro Radio Arena chiefs have been put on red alert ragarding a possible Newcastle show from grunge legends Pearl Jam.

2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the band’s seminal Ten album and plans are in place to roll out a massive world tour in support of that huge seller as it gets the full re-release treatment on no fewer than four separate formats.

An Arena insider said: “We were told to pencil in Pearl Jam for 2009 and it’s caused quite a stir. Nothing’s been released or confirmed as of yet but it’s a case of watch this space.”

The one stumbling block capable of mothballing the whole tour is the band members’ failure to commit to anything beyond PR for 2009’sTen . With arena tours requiring months of pre-planning there is a need for confirmation now – but Eddie Vedder and the boys are sitting tight until they gauge reaction to this year’s reissue programme.

In addition a new record is in the pipeline – the follow-up to 2006’s self-titled return to form. That release is expected to follow hot on the heels of the Ten reissue and hit stores sometime this summer. Clear that diary now!
