Winger produced some of the greatest songs ever to emerge from the hair metal era two decades ago and despite constant ridicule on MTV survived to fight another day.
That day has arrived with the release of the sensational Karma – one of the contenders for rushonrock’s albums of the year – and a full UK headline tour next March.
Founder member Kip Winger took time out to look back on the hair metal glory days, the bittersweet taste of commercial success and why it’s obvious he’s in a band crammed full with his best buddies. Oh, and he even gives his verdict on grunge… Read the rest of this entry »

A slew of new releases maintain the impression that October will prove to be one of the maddest months for rock with tomorrow’s hot picks covering every genre.
We’ve got the post-grunge progressive growl of Aussie giants Karnivool, the hair-metal-by-numbers brilliance of Mr Big and Winger plus some seriously feral sounds from old stagers Senser (pictured).
Throw in the debut album from indie rock heroes Flood Of Red and there’s plenty of options if your money’s burning a great big hole in that rock pocket come Monday morning. Read the rest of this entry »

As revealed on rushonrock last month, legendary US hair metal heroes Winger will be playing a full UK tour next spring – calling at 11 towns and cities in support of this month’s new album.
And on that subject we just can’t get enough of killer disc Karma as the band relive the early 90s glory days with a heady mix of steaming hard rockers and perfectly produced power ballads.

Kip Winger has confirmed his band will play as many as nine live dates across the UK in March after admitting reaction to new record Karma has stunned the hair metal heroes.
Winger release their latest album in October before embarking on a full European tour in November. That leg of the Karma tour takes the band up to Christmas but Kip told rushonrock tonight: “We’re coming to the UK in the spring.
“There’s at least seven dates and I think there could be as many as nine. We’re going to cover as much of the country as we can and it looks like the whole thing could be in conjunction with Classic Rock Magazine.” Read the rest of this entry »
