Brash tattoos, plenty of eyeliner and a tongue hanging out the corner of your mouth is a standard recipe for any Nu-Metal band.

And Dear Superstar seem to have the lot complete with an almost too cocky lead singer in Micky Satiar. What he may lack in vocal ability is certainly made up for with stage presence as he bounces around stage with maximum charisma. DS put in a solid performance and one that shows they won’t be also-rans forever. Read the rest of this entry »

With a new record in the pipeline for the second half of 2010 and no doubt yet another round of quality shows and festival slots to come we can only see the Edmonton, Kentucky quartet getting bigger. And bigger. And bigger.

But before they do we caught up with frontman Chris Robertson for a final bite of the ‘Cherry this year. Read the rest of this entry »

But in another great week for rock there’s serious competition from fellow Downloaders Dream Theater and Pendulum. Plus we check out the latest effort from perennial Brit faves Magnum and the surprise package of the week in the shape of melodic Swedes Baltimoore. paparoach1Nu-metal pioneers Papa Roach have been written off more times than Gordon Brown but the revitalised US rockers are back on rock’s radar big time thanks to magnificent return to form Metamorphosis.

Ready to rip Download apart on Sunday, Jacoby Shaddix and his crew release new single Lifeline later this month and we’ve decided to bring you the clip right here in anticipation of a cool as fuck second stage set this weekend.

While the majority of metal fans still remember the ‘Roach for 2000’s major lable debut Infest – and the anthemic lead single Last Resort – the band has ridden a wave of critical disdain to emerge as one of 2009’s must-see acts and restored a reputation battered by the release of 2006’s none event The Paramour Sessions.
