Welcome to your essential guide to the best in new music and this week’s hot releases would brighten up the dullest of Bank Holiday weekends.

We review and rate the new records by Murderdolls, Papa Roach (pictured) and hardcore punks Terror. Plus there’s the lowdown on melodic rock’s finest in the shape of Terry Brock, First Signal, Stan Bush and Ken’s Dojo.

But there’s more! Sonic Syndicate, Shadowgarden, Nightfalland Tristania all get the rushonrock treatment and don’t forget – every Sunday we look at what’s hot and what’s not. Read the rest of this entry »

Review – Heaven’s Basement & Dear Superstar

dear-superstar-papa@ Newcastle o2 Academy, December 11 2009

Brash tattoos, plenty of eyeliner and a tongue hanging out the corner of your mouth is a standard recipe for any Nu-Metal band.

And Dear Superstar seem to have the lot complete with an almost too cocky lead singer in Micky Satiar. What he may lack in vocal ability is certainly made up for with stage presence as he bounces around stage with maximum charisma. DS put in a solid performance and one that shows they won’t be also-rans forever. Read the rest of this entry »

EXCLUSIVE – Black Stone Cherry Interview

Posted by simon On December - 9 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

bsc-newWe’ve been backing the Black Stone Cherry boys for some time now and it’s safe to say there can’t be many bands who’ve entertained us so often and so brilliantly throughout 2009.

With a new record in the pipeline for the second half of 2010 and no doubt yet another round of quality shows and festival slots to come we can only see the Edmonton, Kentucky quartet getting bigger. And bigger. And bigger.

But before they do we caught up with frontman Chris Robertson for a final bite of the ‘Cherry this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by simon On October - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

frank-turner-littleThe rock just keeps on coming and this week we’re delighted to bring you another rushonrock exclusive in the shape of a brand new interview with former Gunner, erstwhile Velvet Revolver and current frontman with punk rock troupe Loaded.

Yes, Duff McKagan’s checking in again ahead of his support slot with hot US band Black Stone Cherry – a bill also featuring one of the bass player’s favourite new bands in the shape of Parlor Mob. We can’t wait. But before then we have Papa Roach, Madina Lake and Heaven’s Basement playing Newcastle’s o2 Academy on Tuesday – plus Wolf at Trillians – and a gig-tastic weekend coming up.

Punk rock troubadour Frank Turner hooks up with Fake Problems to play Newcastle Uni on Saturday night while Bowling For Soup (Academy) go head to head with Richie Kotzen at Trillians on Sunday. And there’s more… Read the rest of this entry »

Bargain Basement

Heaven's Basement tourThree of Britain’s best young bands are set to deliver the Christmas present classic rock fans crave in December after hooking up for what should be a belting night of riff-fueled action.

Hard working, hard gigging quintet Heaven’s Basement headline a three-band bill featuring Global Music’s Dear Superstar and this week’s Kerrang! stars New Device – signed to Classic Rock Magazine’s Powerage label.

“This is a tour we’ve been talking about since ourselves and HB supported Buckcherry a couple of months back,” Dear Superstar frontman Micky Satiar told rushonrock. “The two bands get on great and the tour brings together some of the best new music this country has to offer.” Read the rest of this entry »

EXCLUSIVE – Dear Superstar Interview

Posted by simon On August - 11 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

dear-superstar-heartless1They’re one of the success stories of 2009 and one of British rock’s big hopes for 2010 – Manchester mob Dear Superstar continue to unleash their unique brand of sleaze rock on audiences across Europe with an uncanny zeal.

A combination of hard work and the patronage of US peers Papa Roach and Buckcherry has seen Micky Satiar and his mates confound the critics and carve out a naughty little niche all of their own. Blinding sets at Download and Sonisphere have only served to add to the buzz surrounding DS and frontman Micky is ready for more. Read the rest of this entry »

Rock Solid

paparoach1Men of the moment Papa Roach show their softer side this week with the release of acoustic EP Naked And Fearless and it’s fair to say Jacoby and the boys have come up trumps again.

But in another great week for rock there’s serious competition from fellow Downloaders Dream Theater and Pendulum. Plus we check out the latest effort from perennial Brit faves Magnum and the surprise package of the week in the shape of melodic Swedes Baltimoore. dear-superstar-heartless1They’ve become the best of friends and the keenest of sleaze rock rivals. And it seems there’s just no separating Manchester’s Dear Superstar from new mates Buckcherry these days.

Both bands joined fellow touring buddies Papa Roach at Download on Sunday. And now Dear Superstar and Buckcherry will lay waste to the UK next month as the latter embark on a full UK headline tour.
