Now we’ve always had a soft spot for the Black Country – anywhere that has given the world heavy metal and pork scratchings deserves an almighty pat on the back.

And while we’re still waiting for someone to set up an archive chronicling our favourite fatty pub snack, a new website charting the influence of Black Country rock has been born.

Home Of Metal brings together anything and everything relating to five decades of heavy music featuring West Midlands stalwarts Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Napalm Death and Godflesh. With a brand new album of original material slated for 2011 the LA Guns aren’t going away anytime soon.

And the Tracii Guns/Jizzy Pearl fronted version of the famous Sunset Strip sleaze merchants have whetted the appetite for that new record by re-releasing a deluxe edition of their first collaboration – Shrinking Violet.

Capital Gains For Remedy

rushonrock faves Remedy have completed work on their debut album – the follow up to critically acclaimed EP Strange Fast Now.

And after laying down the tracks at Newcastle’s Blast Studios the quartet is London-bound next month for a date with studio guru Jon Astley.

The man who produced The Who and Eric Clapton in the 70s would appear to be the perfect choice to master Remedy’s retro cool sound and the band is confident of a May release. Read the rest of this entry »

Four weeks after axe slinger Roadsy hinted as much to rushonrock, Oz rockers Airbourne have been confirmed for Download 2010!

On a day when more than 20 new acts were announced – and organiser Andy Copping revealed he’d tapped up Led Zeppelin for a set – we’re delighted the AC/DC clones are joining their inspiration on another blast of a bill.

Multi-million selling melodic rock masters Europe kick off their UK tour in Leeds tomorrow riding high on the back of Swedish chart topper Last Look At Eden.
