Following the release of last month’s rushonrock rated 8/10 album Night Is The New Day, Katatonia are set to tour the UK next year.

Formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse their debut album, Dance Of December Souls, was released in 1993 gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal.

Future albums saw a sleeker Katatonia sound come to the fore, starting with the melodic rock songs which became the third album Discouraged Ones – the record which shaped their modern-day approach. Read the rest of this entry »

They’re playing to thousands of rockers and metal heads at Birmingham’s NEC tomorrow night as part of a cracking Hellfire bill featuring the likes of Saxon and Anvil.

And North Eastern heroes The Casino Brawl have just announced a headline show at Newcastle’s Trillians after coming off the road with the Haunted.

NWOBHM pioneers Saxon have been confirmed as Saturday headliners at the 2009 Hellfire Festival in Birmingham.

And the veteran metallers will be joined by resurgent reality movie stars Anvil with the Canadian crew confirmed as main support to Biff and the boys.

Saxon delivered a typically robust set as the Sonisphere festival made its Knebworth debut at the weekend. But adding them to the bill at the NEC on November 7 is a real coup for Hellfire bosses as they combine the 10th anniversary of Music Live with a slew of hard rocking bands across three days.
