Stuart Cable Remembered

Posted by simon On June - 7 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Last summer Stuart Cable and his band Killing For Company spent several weeks holed up in a Newcastle studio laying down the tracks which would appear on this year’s soon-to-be released debut album.

rushonrock editor Simon Rushworth spent time with the band at Blast! Studios and eventually agreed to write KFC’s first official biography from interviews conducted during August 2009.

Here we publish his interview with Stuart Cable for the first time – it was a chat which didn’t dwell on the past but rather looked forward to an exciting future with a band which, it seemed, had already overcome its fair share of tragedy. This weekend’s Download show would have announced KFC as one of the bands to watch in 2010 and it’s clear from the following words that Cable couldn’t wait to bring his brilliant new sound to the masses. They ripped up the second stage at Hard Rock Hell before Christmas and the second coming of The Glitterati gains momentum later this year when they release their second album Are You One Of Us?.

Out on April 19, the record represents a remarkable rebirth for the band which burst onto the scene with major label debut Do You Love Yourself in 2005 only to disappear without trace.

Signed to Tyneside’s Global Music, on their DR2 imprint, The Glitterati released new song Fight, Fight, Fight to critical acclaim in November and fans can expect more of the same on the band’s long-awaited second album. Read the rest of this entry »

Glitterati1resizeReborn Brit rockers The Glitterati will take time out from penning their new record to support shock rock heroes W.A.S.P. on this month’s UK tour.

But for those of you desperate to hear something fresh from the Leeds-based crew and latest signings to Global Music’s DR2 imprint your wait is almost over.

New Sound

Posted by simon On September - 28 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

sound-exIndie rock maestros The Sound Ex have been spotted laying down the tracks which will eventually form the follow-up to the classy yet criminally overlooked Palomino.

The Tyneside crew took up residence in Newcastle’s Blast! studios last week to demo a series of stonking hook-laden tracks. And mixing is slated for mid-October. Quite why the career of these former major label darlings hasn’t come full circle is anyone’s guess but the guys are still producing music many a bigger band would kill for. Killing Time

killing for company cropHot Welsh rockers Killing For Company are putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled debut on Tyneside this week – with drummer and former Stereophonic Stuart Cable insisting the band’s British rock sound is something akin to a ‘steam train’.

Fusing Cable’s tub thumping with former members of Powder and The Teeth, the band signed to Global Music earlier this year. And after a month holed up inside a Newcastle studio KFC have targeted February for the release of their full-length debut. Read the rest of this entry »

wasp blackieW.A.S.P.’s new record boasts a slew of potential singles in the vein of the band’s late 80s commercial heyday. That’s the verdict of excited Global Music chiefs as the Tyneside label prepares to unleash Babylon on an unsuspecting public on October 12.

Speaking exclusively to rushonrock, brothers Ged and Eric Cook revealed their star US signing has delivered a stunning album prior to this year’s full UK tour and an eagerly anticipated Saturday slot at Hard Rock Hell III. Read the rest of this entry »

Superstar’s Toon Date

dear-superstar-heartless1Hard rock heroes Dear Superstar don’t show any sign of slowing down anytime soon after revealing they’re ready to interrupt a summer of non-stop gigging to lay down some new demos!

Yep, the rushonrock faves will head to Tyneside’s Blast! Studios next week after slaying the Sonisphere crowd at Knebworth. And they’ll spend a couple of days working on some of the songs which could make the cut on the follow-up to steady seller Heartless.

“We’re thinking about the new record but we haven’t had time to do much more than that this year,” admitted frontman Micky. “We’ve got a bit of time after Sonisphere and the Buckcherry tour to work on a couple of ideas and we’re already looking forward to coming back to Newcastle.” Read the rest of this entry »

dear-superstar-heartless1They’ve become the best of friends and the keenest of sleaze rock rivals. And it seems there’s just no separating Manchester’s Dear Superstar from new mates Buckcherry these days.

Both bands joined fellow touring buddies Papa Roach at Download on Sunday. And now Dear Superstar and Buckcherry will lay waste to the UK next month as the latter embark on a full UK headline tour.
