Review – Lostprophets

Reading through the list of acts playing the North East’s newest festival, the word despair would spring to mind for most rock fans.

But lurking somewhere between N-Dubz, Sugababes and Pixie Lott, Welsh rockers Lostprophets single-handedly salvaged some decent rock music at the Outside/In event.

With such a variety of pop music on offer it was quite baffling to think Lostprophets would agree to play. With their new album seeming to step away from the kind of audience present at The Sage, maybe Ian Watkins and co are on a mission to deliver their rediscovered metal sound to all. There are few better rock and roll venues in the North East right now than Gateshead’s The Three Tuns so stick one of the region’s finest emerging rock and roll bands on the stage and it’s a recipe for success.

Or at least it should be.

There’s no accounting for the gremlins which can destroy a set with one mean spirited swipe. And for a while it seemed Fables would be the latest unlucky foursome to fall prey to every band’s worst nightmare. Read the rest of this entry »

Head’s Off

DRR logo smallNorthern stars Dirty Rock And Roll have contacted rushonrock to explain that tomorrow night’s Head Of Steam gig has been cancelled.

Adam, Lee and Steve were due to return to one of their fave live haunts this week as one of four hard rocking acts billed to appear at the Newcastle venue.

But the plug has been pulled on DRnR’s appearance and now fans will have to wait until October 6 to see the trio in action when Gateshead’s Three Tuns hosts the hard rocking heroes. If you’re still looking for a gig on Wednesday don’t forget The Used play Northumbria Uni…
