rushonrock Rider – Stephen Kilkenny

Posted by simon On May - 21 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

He hails from County Durham but Stephen Kilkenny is making a name for himself in the USA with Milwaukee-based rockers Major Tom.

With new album A Night On The Lash available now on iTunes and talk of a slew of UK dates to come you could well be hearing more from this Bowie/ACDC/Poison(quite a mix!)-influenced band very soon.

Look out for a full interview and album review on rushonrock very soon but for now we go behind the scenes with the kid they called Killer… Read the rest of this entry »

Pirates Ship In – VIP Tix Ship Out

Posted by simon On March - 2 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

So the VIP tix for Hard Rock Hell 2010 are already gone and, frankly, we’re not at all surprised.

The event dubbed Pirates Of Prestatyn takes place from December 3-5 and we’ll be back after last year’s superior shindig.

Acts already announced include MSG, Skid Row, Enuff Z’Nuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, LA Guns and Europe’s touring buddies Diamond Head. And that’s just for starters! Read the rest of this entry »

Review – Enuff Z’Nuff & Faster Pussycat

Posted by simon On February - 13 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

@ Newcastle Legends, February 12 2010

If you’re going to turn up late for an Enuff Z’Nuff show then make sure you’re not that late. As long as you hear the band blast out Fly High Michelle and New Thing then you’re still granted a window on a world of vintage hair metal.

Of course turning up late is something Donnie Vie and Chip Z’Nuff can relate to. Their band broke onto the MTV-led spandex-heavy scene just as trends were changing and their time at the top was all too brief. Read the rest of this entry »

This Week On RUSHONROCK

Posted by simon On February - 8 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Glam metal takes centre stage this week as dolled up heroes Faster Pussycat and Enuff Z’Nuff join forces to roll back the rock years – we review both bands right here.

Continuing the theme and we welcome the Electric Boys to our hot new vinyl feature – 12@12. And there’s some great craic with 2010′s take on homegrown hair metal – The Crave – as the band debut on the rushonrock Rider.

Ensuring your fave site maintains a heavier edge we’ll rate Lamb Of God on their metal as hell UK headline tour. And there’s an exclusive interview with buzz band Dommin as they toast a successful tour with Lacuna Coil and look forward to more UK dates with H.I.M.. And there’s more. Rock O’ The North Pt…65

rock-o-the-north

Maybe it’s too early to make this wild and wonderful claim but is Newcastle about to reclaim its title as one of the UK’s hotbeds of rock?

A series of sold-out Academy dates in 2009, coupled with a vibrant club scene and forthcoming arena dates with two of the region’s favourite sons, Paul Rodgers and Mark Knopfler, suggest as much.

And glowing endorsements from bands as diverse as The Answer, Machine Head and New Generation Superstars imply a city once famous for boasting the biggest rock club in Europe is about to bounce back.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Faster Show

Posted by simon On November - 19 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

FasterPussycatWith less than a week to go before Vain visit Trillians the same team responsible for that rocktastic return have lined up two more of glam’s genuine heavyweights.

North East-based promoters Electric Kicks are serving up a deliciously sleazy double header with Faster Pussycat and Enuff Z’ Nuff checking into Legends on February 12.

Taime Downe’s Pussycat are promising a rollercoaster ride through the band’s greatest hits and if they play everything from 1987′s Wake Me When It’s Over we’ll be happy enough. Read the rest of this entry »
