One of the live highlights of 2010 should be fast-rising 80s-style rock crew The Crave and the band are in the studio this week putting the finishing touches to their debut album.

You might have seen the boys backing Justin Hawkins’ Hot Leg (where are they now…) and Buckcherry last year and they’ll be back on the road throughout this year.

Continuing this week’s look at ladies who rock, the rushonrock Rider returns to throw the spotlight on US femme fatale Alexx Calise.

With a new album due this year the fast-emerging singer songwriter would appear to have what it takes in the race to reach rock stardom.

Alexx is keen to tour the UK in 2010 and we’re keen to see her here.

With a superb array of songs and an image to die for it’s quite clear she deserves to taste some serious success during the next 12 months.

A combination of hard work and the patronage of US peers Papa Roach and Buckcherry has seen Micky Satiar and his mates confound the critics and carve out a naughty little niche all of their own. Hard rock heroes Dear Superstar don’t show any sign of slowing down anytime soon after revealing they’re ready to interrupt a summer of non-stop gigging to lay down some new demos!

Yep, the rushonrock faves will head to Tyneside’s Blast! Studios next week after slaying the Sonisphere crowd at Knebworth. And they’ll spend a couple of days working on some of the songs which could make the cut on the follow-up to steady seller Heartless.

“We’re thinking about the new record but we haven’t had time to do much more than that this year,” admitted frontman Micky. “We’ve got a bit of time after Sonisphere and the Buckcherry tour to work on a couple of ideas and we’re already looking forward to coming back to Newcastle.” Read the rest of this entry »

Could you ask for three better rock bands on one bill? Whatever the reason for headliners Buckcherry playing a truncated 85 minute set it meant more music for your money in the shape of two of the UK’s hottest new acts and the value was there for all to see.

Heaven’s Basement are on a classic rock par with The Answer and Stone Gods and, as a result, are at the forefront of the Tidal Wave Of British Heavy Metal (TWOBHM).

With more name changes than an MI5 spy they might still be suffering from losing one or two fans along the way but the cracking riffs have remained constant. Reign On My Parade and set closer Executioner’s Day are two of the tracks of 2009 and live they take on a new lease of life. And it just so happens they’re brining rushonrock faves Dear Superstar (singer Micky pictured) along for the ride after the two bands became the best of friends on the summer festival circuit and beyond. rushonrock faves Dear Superstar will be joining new best buddies Papa Roach at Download this summer on a Classic Rock Sunday bill which just keeps getting better.

And Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix can’t wait to go head-to-head with one of the brightest new acts on Tyneside’s Global Music roster after seeing the band up close and personal this month.

Dear Superstar so impressed Shaddix and his crew on their recent UK tour that the band will play the Papa Roach show in oxford on June 17 with fellow sleaze merchants Buckcherry. And three days earlier Micky Satiar and his mates will be tearing up Download’s Tuborg Stage – with Papa Roach and Buckcherry filling slots on the second stage on the same day!!
