lita fordTomorrow sees the return of the ultimate hair metal babe as Lita Ford (left) unleashes her hotly anticipated comeback record Wicked Wonderland. We review and rate it right here.

So who’s the former Runaway up against this week?

Big hitters Bon Jovi and Slayer bring their latest tunes to the table so look out for a Rock Solid special later this week.

In the meantime we check out the old school metal of Saviours and some stripped down Sharon den Adel (if only) as Within Temptation go all acoustic.

Then there’s the full-on assault that is Fu Manchu as the stoner legends return with one of their most accomplished and accesible albums to date.

But does any of it come close to lovely Lita? Find out right here… Read the rest of this entry »

biff_saxon_103He’s a Barnsley boy boasting the true Yorkshire grit which took his band Saxon to the very summit of the NWOBHM movement.

And 30 years after the UK spawned metal for the masses, Biff Byford is still fronting one of the nation’s best-loved acts as Saxon go from strength to strength.

Out on tour with fellow metal monsters Anvil, it’s time we took a look behind the scenes with one of rock’s finest frontmen. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by simon On October - 16 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

biff_saxon_103Saxon singer Biff Byford is being courted by not one, but two film companies with offers of key roles in productions due to start rolling next year.

The NWOBHM legend tours in support of latest record Into The Labyrinth next month as the band’s remarkable popularity surge continues to gather pace.

But it seems there’s no rest for the musically wicked with Biff set to appear in US and German movies – and provide music for the respective films’ soundtracks. Read the rest of this entry »

Hellfire’s Sax Appeal

Posted by simon On August - 3 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

SaxonNWOBHM pioneers Saxon have been confirmed as Saturday headliners at the 2009 Hellfire Festival in Birmingham.

And the veteran metallers will be joined by resurgent reality movie stars Anvil with the Canadian crew confirmed as main support to Biff and the boys.

Saxon delivered a typically robust set as the Sonisphere festival made its Knebworth debut at the weekend. But adding them to the bill at the NEC on November 7 is a real coup for Hellfire bosses as they combine the 10th anniversary of Music Live with a slew of hard rocking bands across three days.
