With new album No Guts, No Glory out next month, coinciding with a full UK headline tour, the Roadrunner favourites are pinning their hopes on 2010 being a very, very big year.

Rarely can there have been so many great bands gigging at the same time and we’re responding by bringing you the rushonrock Rock Feast this week.
Mastodon have provided a meaty aperitif but it’s over to Lostprophets and Machine Head to share the main course duties.
And then there’s the sweet. And in this case the sweet sound of Europe as the sensational Swedes roll out the classics and a clutch of newies from their Last Look At Eden record. We’ve already reviewed Mastodon and we’ll rate the other three over the course of the next six days. But that’s not all. Read the rest of this entry »

In the eyes of many they’re the future of good time rock and roll, the saviours of bar room bawls and the natural successors to fellow countrymen AC/DC.
No pressure there then.
Their name is Airbourne and they’re a happy-go-lucky bunch of typical Aussies who like nothing better than a barbecue, a tinny and a cracking game of cricket. Read the rest of this entry »

After brazenly announcing a British headline tour kicking off in February next year those Aussie bad boys Airbourne have been forced to reschedule their latest UK jaunt.
With new album No Guts, No Glory out on February 22, the original slew of dates were due to take place before the band’s hotly anticipated Roadrunner release.
But now fans will have almost two months to familiarise themselves with more of the same from the hard rocking, hard drinking AC/DC-alikes – so it’s not all bad news. Read the rest of this entry »

In less than 48 hours Brit rock heroes Stone Gods kick off their very first UK headline tour – right here on Tyneside!
Yep, the band which rose phoenix-like from the ashes of The Darkness has been off the road for three months and they’re raring to go again. Richie and the gang play Newcastle’s o2 Academy 2 on Saturday night and Monday sees the release of one of their best songs yet as Start Of Something becomes the fourth tune culled from the fantastic debut Silver Spoons & Broken Bones.
You might have caught them in support of Airbourne and Black Stone Cherry but be warned – the Gods as a headline act promise to be a very different beast altogether. And although the music may be very different there’ll be no avoiding comparisons to Hot Leg with that show-stopping set from Justin’s mob at the same Academy 2 venue still fresh in the memory. Am I dreaming or is this year’s Download finally harking back to its true Monsters Of Rock roots?
The premier metal festival of the summer has always tried to throw up as diverse an array of hard rocking big hitters as possible.
Yet the hair metal heritage acts have been few and far between. Rifle through a list of bands which played at the inaugural event back in 2004 and the flavour was very much nu-metal, industrial metal, alt metal and indie rock. Nothing wrong with that but you’d have been hard pressed to find a blues rock standard or a soft metal ballad. Most people who forked out for tickets that year would have baulked at the very idea… Read the rest of this entry »
