August Burns Red – Found In Far Away Places (Fearless Records)

Genre: Metalcore

It’s a busy time to be in August Burns Red. Following the release of Found In Far Away Places, their seventh album, the five-piece are embarking on a nine date UK tour with Asking Alexandria, Memphis May Fire and In Hearts Wake.

Their latest release is an excellent tool to arm themselves with for those dates – it’s an instantly gratifying tornado of metalcore, growling vocals and an announcement of a band at the top of their game.

August Burns Red may be, for the most part, a metalcore band – but they don’t like being pigeonholed into the genre and for good reason. ABR are much more than that, and Found In Far Away Places is a much more nuanced piece of work.

The Wake sets the tone with its brutal guitar and vocals that verge on animalistic at times, while Minoring in the Majors and Everlasting Ending contain guitar riffs that would even please the most die-hard Eric Clapton fan nodding in appreciation.

This is an album for fans new and old, and the perfect way to kick off a new tour. Russell Hughes
