EXCLUSIVE – QUIREBOYS ALBUM LATEST
RUSHONROCK was granted exclusive access to the sessions at legendary producer Chris Tsangarides’ Kent studios.
And guitarist Paul Guerin chose to speak to this website first as the band headed straight from the studio to Spain for a series of European club dates…
Twelve tracks in 12 days – ok, it sounds like a walk in the park. But considering we only had four completely written tracks we had our work cut out!
Located in the idyllic setting of Deal in Kent, the Ecology Rooms studio overlooks the English Channel and on a clear day you can see France.
Chris Tsangarides was given the task of recording this album and hey, what can I say? We couldn’t have picked a better guy for the job.
Chris knows how to get a great sound very quickly which meant we could use the valuable time working on the songs rather than fannying on with a hundred different amps!
Once the tracks were finalised and arranged the songs were pretty much recorded live with the solos going down live rather than overdubbed later.
Obviously there were some tracks where it was better to work the songs that that way but on the whole most songs were first or second takes which allowed us more time for vocals and backing vocals and any other ideas that may spring to mind.
Work generally started at 10am and finished at 10pm with a break for dinner. Not only is Chris Tsangarides a world class producer/engineer – he is also one of the greatest chefs on this planet so dinner time was a real treat.
There was great food and brilliant stories about Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, Judas Priest and just about anyone else you would like to mention. Chris has produced them all!
In the end we really took this album to the wire – the last note was recorded at 17.15 and at 17.20 we were on the tour bus heading to a show in Bishop’s Stortford! But that’s the Quireboys for you. And this is rock n roll…
The album is being mixed as we speak and is due for release in June. The title of the album is Beautiful Curse – we are very proud of this record and we hope you love it as much as we do.
