So Trivium, Machine Head and Lamb Of God have joined heavy hitters Black Sabbath and Metallica on this summer’s Download bill.

And while we’re counting the days until we see all five there are two bands already inked in to the ‘must-see’ category for all of us at rushonrock!

Seminal UK rockers Little Angels (pictured) and US upstarts Ugly Kid Joe have been away for far too long but come June 2012 the wait will finally be over.

We’ll be catching up with Little Angels frontman Toby Jepson later this week for the lowdown on the Download comeback. And for the next five months we’ll be busily digging out classic cuts from UK number on album Jam and top tunes from their early 90s heyday.

Ugly Kid Joe hit number three in the UK singles charts with Everything About You way back in 1992 and 20 years on we still love absolutely everything about them.

rushonrock editor Simon Rushworth said: “The last place I saw both bands was in Sheffield. Ugly Kid Joe killed a baking hot crowd on Def Leppard’s Don Valley Stadium bill and Little Angels slayed the City Hall. They were good times and it’s exciting to think those good times will roll again in Donington this summer!”

Late last year we almost let the cat out of the bag where Trivium were concerned after guitar hero Corey Beaulieu revealed the band’s management were already in talks to add the US powerhouse to a metal-fueled bill.

And the world’s heaviest bands are stacking up to give Sabbath a run for their money with the magnificent Machine Head, thrash legends Anthrax and the awesome Lamb Of God in line to bash eardrums and inspire much banging of heads.

As for Biffy Clyro and Chase And Status…file under ‘underwhelming’ alongside Friday headliners The Prodigy. But then life’s not perfect.
