This City 2With a worldwide record deal under their belts and plans for a big UK tour later this year we’re going to stick our necks out here at rushonrock and confidently predict that Brighton band This City will be the ones to watch come 2010.

By then debut album We Were Like Sharks will have been knocking around for four months backed by indie label Epitaph – with whom the boys have signed a global deal. And if it doesn’t create a bigger buzz than a million angry bees sat outside a flower shop we’ll eat their hive.

Bright, sparky riffs put This City right at the forefront of the UK’s indie rock scene and it’s little wonder the anthemic We Move has racked up a massive 135,000-plus MySpace plays. The song’s catchier than swine flu and hurts your head just as much.

After destroying those massed inside the Tuborg tent at Download, Chris Purr (there can rarely have been a less apt surname in the history of rock) and his buddies are playing select summer dates before inking in that hotly anticipated full UK jaunt. Watch this space.

And watch out for We Were Like Sharks when it hits stores in September.
