Backyard Babies mainman Nicke Borg has admitted the Swedes are gutted that they can’t get on a UK festival bill this summer – despite nailing spots across Europe.
With the band still riding high on the back of last year’s self-titled album the UK is readying itself for more sleaze rock action as the fourpiece embark on a co-headline tour with The Rasmus. But those of us expecting the Babies to pop up at Download, Sonisphere or Leeds/Reading this summer look like being sorely disappointed.
“We’re playing a load of festivals this summer after a short break from touring,” Nicke told rushonrock. “But we’ve got nothing in Britain. It’s a big disappointment and of course we’d love to play Download – who wouldn’t – but it won’t happen. Why? I’m not sure. For now we’re just looking forward to playing with The Rasmus and I hope this tour works. Those fans who saw us in Britain last year should enjoy seeing us again – the set’s changed a bit in the last six months so it’s well worth checking us out.”
Especially as BB won’t be kicking our asses at any festivals any time soon. Look out for a full interview with a typically candid Nicke on rushonrock very soon.
