quireboys2As revealed right here a whopping 11 days ago rushonrock faves Quireboys will be getting the party started for retiring rock legends Thunder when Danny, Luke and the boys play their last ever Newcastle City Hall gig on July 7.

A delighted Spike said: “We were honoured to be asked to play this show and jumped at the chance. we’re playing in Nottingham too and it should be a riot. It’s a shame Thunder are calling it a day but if we can help them go out on a high thenwe will!”

Heading into the 1990s both bands were at the forefront of an exciting new wave of Brit rock, jostling for top billing alongside the lieks of Little Angels and Terrorvision. But the onset of grunge killed a growing movement in its infancy and both Thunder and the Quireboys were forced to call temporary halts on their careers beforereforming in the 21st century.

Our sources suggest there are still a handful of tickets left for the Toon show in the summer when we’ll know more about the Quireboys’ new acoustic record – due for release later this year. Expect a sneak preview on the night.

Meanwhile either a bloke called Danny or a lad called Luke will be interviewed right here very soon. Watch this space.
