Here at rushonrock we like to think there are no boundaries when it comes to featuring the music we love but whether this is the most suitable site for a real-life Reverend and his wife’s washboard remains to be seen.
The thing is there’s no getting away from the fact that The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are brilliant – in a quirky, rockabilly kinda way. Think a more earnest Cinderella or a less accessible Georgia Satellites and you get an idea of this alt country blues rock crew. But hearing is believing.
Oh, and don’t be put off by the pig in the picture.
Hailing from Brown County, Indiana (pop. 832) this wholesome threesome are destined for greatness. Support slots with Flogging Molly and Clutch may have opened up the Rev and his band mates to a rockier audience in recent months but there’s no escaping their countryfied roots. Next month’s UK debut single – the AA Mama’s Fried Potatoes/Can’t Pay The Bill is a suitably insane snapshot of forthcoming album The Whole Fam Damily and we’re shamelessly addicted.
If none of this makes sense and you reckon we’ve lost the plot then we’re ever so sorry. But it’s well worth checking out www.myspace.com/therevpeytonsbigdamnband to see what all the fuss is about. There’s a very good chance you’ll see where we’re coming from.
