Word reaches rushonrock that Def Leppard are the latest band lined up for the full reissue treatment with former label Mercury poised to roll out a slew of the band’s best work.

The 20th anniversary edition of Hysteria proved a huge hit across the world and the Lepps followed that up with their best work to date in the shape of 2008’s Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.

Now it seems that Mercury are poised to repackage and re-release the band’s extensive back catalogue with new liner notes and bonus tracks.

Leppard and their long-time label parted company at the end of last year but it is understood the band remain on good terms with their former bosses and will co-operate fully with the reissue programme. Sources suggest the first batch of Leppard CDs will be available from May but there are no plans, as yet, to follow Metallica’s lead and go down the vinyl route. Pyromania and Hysteria were released on 180 gram vinyl last year as part of the Back To Black series.
